Online Shopping Overload

Christmas Shopping NoticeEvery year I swear I don’t do this and every year I do it anyway – overdoing the online shopping. It’s so easy to click from site to site, do a Google search to discover something and then click, click, click – it’s on order. The packages start to arrive and it’s fun and like Christmas while I wrap up the presents and send them off to their distant destinations. I don’t think about the bills that don’t show up until January.

It could be much worse with more out of control shopping as compensation for not being with my family for the holidays. But more stuff doesn’t equal more love and we’re making a concerted effort (as you can tell) to cut back this year. The problem is coming up with ideas in the first place.

Doing gift cards is an easy solution and I’ve done that in the past but, I dunno, it just doesn’t appeal this year. Dreaming up appropriate presents for nieces and nephews that I haven’t seen in a year is a bit of a challenge, especially since I keep finding cool stuff for myself that I know no one else would ever think of to get me. We always used to tell my dad to stop buying things for himself in December and now I understand how easy it is to do myself.

More on food and body and all that stuff tomorrow. I’m giving myself a little break, especially since I’ve been posting comments on the latest AFG post all day.

  1. Anne,
I know what you mean. It’s bad enough when we overdo conventional shopping. (You know, driving from store to store).

But now with the convience on shopping online… We really have to be careful.
